January - 2008
Waited for a birthmother to contact us. Met our new social worker for the first time, learned that a birthmother back east may be interested in us. Had a reallllly cold winter.
February 2008
Waited some more.
February 14th, Mitch called to tell us we had been selected by a birthmother in Michigan. We went to our first FSA gathering, had a great time. Spent the rest of the month asking questions and being a great big ball of nerves. Kassidy had her Gymnastic competition.
March 2008
Tried to get Lily to Utah, she went into labor, had to stay in Michigan. We packed our bags and started making travel plans. Kassidy memorized all of her times tables, earned a Nintendo DS from Mom and Dad. Kassidy found the Purple bunny in an Easter egg and won an Easter basket at the city Easter egg hunt.
April 2008
Waited some more. Had a fun time getting ready for the baby and for spring. Worried a bunch about if it would all work out. Prayed a lot, jumped through numerous hoops for Michigan.
April 25th- went to Chilis for dinner, fell asleep at 8 pm. Got a 6:30 in the morning phone call from Mitch saying that Lily was in labor. Called the airline, headed for the airport, got buddy pass seats on the only flight to Lansing that day!!! We all got to sit together. Kass had a blast on the plane, I took Dramamine and Travis entertained Kass. We flew into our first stop, got seats on the next plane, together again- wow. Got to Lansing at 10pm and met our Lily and our angel Kennedy. April 28th, Took Kennedy from the hospital to our apartment.
May 2008
May 3rd- Travis and Kassidy went home. I waited to go home with our baby, cried a lot, like multiple times every day. Rhonda came to stay with me for 5 days- bless her heart.
May 23th- ICPC in Michigan sent paperwork to Utah. I made plans to get to the airport the next day. May 24th- Michele took me to the airport- thanks - got a seat on the only direct flight home, ICPC didn't clear me, missed the flight, cried big tears, got on a flight to Cincinnati that was 2 hours late, missed the connecting flight home. The airline put me up in a hotel, slept for 3 hours, got a seat on the first flight home- my ticket was messed up and it was the only flight with open seats for the day. Nice lady let me on, got home - 1 diaper and 1 package of formula to spare. I was so excited to see dirt and sagebrush and mountains- home is definitely awesome. Introduced Kennedy to everyone.
June 2008
Kassidy turned 9. I cried again. Kass had swimming lessons, did awesome. I had to go back to work. Relaxed a lot and loved on the girls.
July 2008
Took Kennedy to her first parade for the 4th of July- she was so impressed. Kassy played hard. Trav rode a lot of horses. I waited for the tomato's and peaches- less than patiently. At some point in the month little T showed up.
August 2008
Ate lots of peaches and tomato's. got ready for my ear surgery. Kassidy won several ribbons at the fair. Took Kennedy to her first rodeo. Kassidy started 4th grade. We found out Little T was on his way. Canceled the ear surgery- I am still deaf- oh well, its rescheduled.
September 2008
Travis played with more cows, Kassidy got sick, canned 150 bottles of tomato's, peaches, jam ect. Quit one job, started back on nights at the old job.
October 2008
Planned to finalize the adoption. Went to Arizona to see Nana and Papa. Travis played with more cows. Kassidy got her new horse Diva. The birthfather appealed the courts trying to get our Kennedy. Had a fun Halloween.
November 2008
Stressed about the adoption. Started to get ready for Christmas. Found out we were having a boy. Stressed about having 2 kids 11 months and 2 weeks apart. Started making plans so that I don't miss Kennedy's first Easter. Met many law enforcement officers. Kass and Dad rode horses.
December 2008
Christmas, Christmas, Christmas. Stressed about the adoption, Kassidy took her Arizona cousins on their first sled rides. Played in the snow, Kennedy met Santa for the first time.
We were amazed at how life can change in a year.
